Language and Educational Institute

HISTORY. The homeschool movement began in the 1970s when an educational theorist and supporter of school reform, began arguing that formal schools’ focus on rote learning created an oppressive classroom environment designed to make children compliant employees.

PROTOCOLS. There are four (4) legal ways homeschooling occurs in the State of California.
        1. File an affidavit to function as a private school.
        2. Enroll in a private school satellite homeschool program.
        3. Have home instruction provided by a certified tutor.
        4. Enroll in an independent study program at home using homeschool curricula.

ACCREDITATION. FUTURE Worldwide (FW) has chosen the Homeschool Coop Method to educate future adults that will assist in transforming and enhancing our communities. With this said, the Coop will work under the umbrella of Sunland Christian School located in Sunland, California. Sunland began its homeschool program in 1986; today, they support families across the United States. The school is accredited by the NISAC (National Independent Study Accreditation Council).

CURRICULUM. Presently, FUTURE Worldwide looks forward to working with children ages 5-12 (grades k-6th) as well as students with autism, in a partnership with UCLA. Languages taught will be Spanish, German, French, Arabic, and Mandarin. The curriculum chosen so far is the A Beka curriculum which is the leading homeschool curriculum across the country for Christian and private schools. There will be 12 -15 students in each class of the FW Homeschool Coop.

CLASS STRUCTURE. Monday and Wednesday will provide academic classes, Tuesday and Thursday, Elective classes. Fridays will be open for field trips and service learning projects. Homework will be given four nights a week, with a writing project assigned every six weeks.

Records will be kept by the Sunland Christian School to keep in compliance with legalities in case a child would like to transfer or transcripts for college admission. Teachers will work a minimum of two (3) days a week. The school will operate in the traditional nine month school year. A two week travel curriculum will be offered in the summer in North America, Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, and the Caribbean.

The targeted launch of the FW Language and Educational Institute is winter 2018.
